We've been getting updates from Trevor Gates, the winner of our We Can Save Them All contest. While the prize will certainly help Trevor get his 356A back on the road, he's still got a long way to go to get there.
Trevor writes, "I actually have been using my welder and El Cheapo English Wheel and a friend's bead roller this past month. You can see my thread here on the 356 Registry's Forum: Fender repair 101. I'm now starting to do the same thing on my car. I had to make some hinge receiver plates before I could hang my doors and had some help on the install from a budding Porsche Tech who makes house calls—my son!"
The four hinge receivers all made and all 16 holes tapped to get those bolts started as easy as possible.
The driver's door has been hung, but not shimmed into its final position.
I just started dissecting the lower door bottom. Surprise surprise I found more rust than initially anticipated.
