We Travel To Porsche's Rennsport Reunion V

When Porsche announced that they'd be making their fifth Rennsport Reunion this year at Laguna Seca, it was difficult to contain our excitement. Just a few hours drive away from our Reno, NV office, and probably the largest gathering of Porsche cars that the world has seen since the last time they had one of these four years ago. We packed our bags with a smile, and headed for Monterey! Here are a handful of photos of our favorite sights and a few of our friends who made the journey to race.

Some of our friends and customers made the trek out to Laguna Seca for a weekend of Porsche action. There was an entire class (called the Gmund Cup) for Porsche racers from the 50s, which included a bunch of 356s, a couple of interesting specials (Including Vic Skirmants' Dolphin, a Cooper-Porsche, and a couple of Devins).

I've been following the build of this Pre-A coupe on Facebook for months. It hit the track this weekend for the first time in 5 decades. Spectacular!

This was a phenomenal sight! An America Roadster is rare enough to make you sit up and take notice, but this particular car, owned by Stan Gold,  is the only one produced with a steel body. One of one.

It's hard to argue with the svelte lines of a 550 Spyder.

There were quite a few sporting 911s there, too!

Ron Goodman brought his 356 all the way from Australia. This car was here for Dana Point, the Monterey Historics, and Rennsport Reunion.

Of course, there was more than just small bore early motorsport cars there. Here we see a honkin' 935 in it's natural habitat!

Oh, and there were a gaggle of 917s in attendance as well. This particular car is owned by someone named Seinfeld.

This longtail 908 was probably my favorite car of the entire event. There's just something inherently interesting about suspension-operated rear wing ailerons.

And of course, we always love seeing and meeting fans of the Stoddard brand. Don't these t-shirts just look so cool?

We also got pictures from a static display sponsored by Chopard that displayed important Porsche race cars including the silver 550A once owned and raced by Chuck Stoddard. The beauty of these Porsches speak for themselves...
