Survivor SC: Ready To Roll!

We've finished up recommissioning and cleaning our 1978 911SC and it's ready to roll into a new owner's garage. It's a great runner—we took it down to Porsches 2 Ohio and enjoyed the down and back trip in this lovely Targa.

SIC-531-889-00-SET Inner Door Vapor Barrier Set

911 Self-Adhesive Vapor Barriers

If you've ever taken apart a 911 or 912 door, you'll have run across the clear plastic vapor barrier that is glued to the inner door frame.  The plastic is easily torn and the glue is a sticky mess—the typical result is that simple repair jobs often leave the vapor barrier torn and tattered—leading to water damage to the fiberboard door panels.
Our solution is a matched set of self-adhesive thick plastic barriers that are die cut and easy to install.

Spot On S Parts

Unlike the later 911SC and Carrera, the early 911S was built so the hard steel lines for the front-mounted oil cooler were routed through the inner rockers.  This required some slight changes internally, including a different profile at the bottom of the right A-pillar, behind the bottom of the front fender.  If you've got rust in this area on your 1969-1972 911S, we've got properly formed repair sections that have the correct indentations for the oil lines.  We also have the correct grommets for where the oil lines pass in and out of the inner frame bits.

The Irony of Rust

Sometimes you can find rust in some pretty unexpected (and maybe a little funny) areas. For example: water can seep beneath undercoating and lead to rust—so what is meant to prevent rust actually promotes it.
We've seen a lot of rust form under the seals for the front trunk lid on the 911 and 912.  Water just collects under those rubber strips and before long, you've got a pretty complicated repair to undertake.
We added some new repair sections for the front fender flange / seal area that make this repair quite a bit easier than recreating these parts from scratch.  They have all the correct fender mounting holes and impressions to make the job as simple as possible.

Early 911 Engine Sound Mat

If you are restoring an early 911 or 912, one of the first things to reinstall in the engine compartment after paint is the sound deadening pad. The mat keeps engine noises from resonating in the cockpit and over time, the original foam and glue degrades.
We have new original-style pads with the correct circular impressions with just the right amount of thickness and texture to make your engine compartment looks just as it did when it left the Factory.

Porsches 2 Ohio

Stoddard attended the Porsches 2 Ohio event this past weekend.  It's a great event that draws enthusiasts from around the Ohio area (and a little bit further...).  We brought a few of our cars, including our 1969 912, the 1978 911SC, Bruce's 1982 911SC and a new addition—a Speedway Green 1977 911S.

For Sale:

We are suckers for Bahama Yellow, so when we were visiting, we poked our head inside this 1967 911 at European Collectibles in Costa Mesa, California.   It's a presentable car with matching numbers and extensive documented history—just two owners since new!

LA Lit Meet News

After 33 years, Jim Perrin, Wayne Callaway and Prescott Kelly have decided it is a good time for them to move the Lit Meet to a new manager. Our Bruce Schwartz had been interested in taking over the Lit Meet for a few years. At the same time, running it was becoming increasingly burdensome for the three co-founders. They informally will help Bruce and the crew here at Stoddard run the meet for the next couple of years, and everyone plans to maintain maximum continuity, to have the transfer be as seamless as possible. Perrin, Callaway and Kelly say that they know the meet will be more fun and more successful than ever with the resources of Stoddard behind it.

Dana Point Concours Photos

We sometimes use our Facebook page to post pictures of events we attend.  We've got quite a few new pictures from the 2016 Dana Point Concours posted on the social media site.  There were quite a few cool cars, including the overall winner—a gorgeous 1959 Convertible D and an all-original 356 Carrera Four Cam.
