We Can Save Them All

Are you up for the challenge? Can you save the hopeless? Stoddard NLA wants to help save the worst 356  this year by giving away $5000 worth of free sheetmetal and $2500 in other parts for one lucky car (and owner!) Inspired by the recent barn-, field- and yes, even lake finds, Stoddard wants to help restore the most challenging 356 project, as chosen by the members of the 356 Registry

Starting on February 15th, 2015, we are encouraging all 356 Registry members—professional shops included!—who are starting a restoration project to post images of their car in the 356 Projects area on the 356 Registry Talk List Forum.   We encourage you to post pictures, information and how you found your decrepit starting point—we will be using one thread per car, where 356 Registry Members can all discuss the merits (or lack thereof) of each of the entries.   More details to follow on our site and the 356 Talk List.

Our goal is to showcase the fact that the resourceful Registry members can find these cars and restore them to their former glory—even if they’re starting with a rusted and bent wreck.

Stoddard NLA will then pick the top twelve candidates for the prize.  The candidates will be chosen based upon the level of difficulty for restoration and the project’s backstory. The worse the car is and the better the story and pictures are…the more likely it will be chosen for the top twelve!  The car must be at the beginning of the restoration process—but the winner can be either a private individual or a restoration shop. We will also be selecting the final twelve based upon the likelihood of timely project completion and the ability of the winner to supply the 356 Registry and Stoddard with regular updates and images throughout the restoration process.  All entries must be posted on the 356 Projects forum by April 30th, 2015

On May 8th, 2015, the 356 Registry Members will vote for their pick out of the dozen. The voting will be open from May 8th  through May 22nd.  Four of the cars from this vote with the highest number of votes will then be voted on in a final round.  This final round will go from May 22nd through May 30th. The winner will be announced in early June.

The winner of this vote will receive up to $5000 worthof the sheetmetal that Stoddard carries for that particular chassis free of charge.   The dollar cap is at current list prices.  In this case, sheetmetal includes all structural rust repair and exterior steel panels that we stock and sell for the chosen car, including bumpers.  You can see examples of these products here:

Once the winning car has been painted, the winner will receive an additional $2500 worth of Stoddard NLA parts to help them finish the project.  This $2500 can be applied to anything Stoddard stocks for that particular car, including trim and rubber seals. The winner will also receive a 20% discount on future orders for the restoration of this specific 356 chassis for a period of 12 months after the initial $5000 is awarded..

Of course, our goal is to make them all beautiful—but first we have to save them all!
