Installing a New Stoddard Dashboard

We installed a new Stoddard dashboard for our 911 over the weekend.  The new dash (SIC-552-051-037-09) is an exact replacement for the original Porsche dash pad and is a small chunk of change less expensive than the Factory versions.   The dash comes with new clips and a new speaker grille.  One difference between our pad and the original is that the speaker grille bolts into the pad—it doesn't have clips like the original.

The dash installation is fairly straightforward.  First we cleaned off the dust and grime from the steel dash structure and cleaned up the original defroster ducts.  We used a basic window cleaner to do this light duty cleaning.

Next we put the dash in place and pushed the studs on the back side of the dash through the holes in the face of the dash structure.   This left the clips that are on the horizontal surface of the dash still to be clipped in place.

We then carefully pushed / rotated the dashboard in and down so that the clips would engage on the top surface of the dash structure.

Next we reused the original stainless sheetmetal screws and finishing washers in the four original positions.   The fit of the dashboard is quite good around the defroster vents and there is really nothing to fault with this concours quality piece.

Next up—windshield and back glass installation!  We are slowly getting this car done and ready for market—but the results will be worth it.
