George Malos of Davis, Illinois is working on the restoration of his five-speed 1966 912. George is the original owner of the car. It was originally Polo Red, but it was damaged during initial delivery and repainted green. George used it has his daily driver until the early 1970s. He had the dealer install a clock so this is a bit of an oddball with four gauges in the dash.
The restoration of the 912 started in May of 2009. George is keeping the vibrant green shade during this long restoration project—the majority of which he's doing in his own backyard shop.
George's goal is to finish the car by 2016—just in time for the car's 50th birthday.
