Our 912 Gets Some Love

Our 1969 912 soft window Targa is undergoing some engine and suspension work.  While we went through much of the car during its restoration, we left the low-mileage long block alone. Now it's time to go back through it and make sure it's up to snuff. We're also going to be fixing up the suspension with anti-roll bars and a wider (yet stock appearing) wheel and tire package.

The engine is being worked on at Autobahn Extremist in Avon Lake, Ohio.  The shop owner, Chris Moore, is a lot like us: a complete nut when it comes to Porsches.  He's already found a few issues with the long block and we'll be replacing the pistons and cylinders thanks to some wear and scoring.

Even we get sucked into the "while we're in there."   We're sending the cylinder heads (which have been cleaned up) off to the machine shop for new guides and valves.

We're replacing the factory 15x4.5 chrome wheels with a slightly more sporty 15x6 painted combination.  We're going to be trying some Blockley 185/70VR15 vintage-appearing performance radials—we've heard good things about them.

We'll keep you posted with more pics and info of our progress.
