Is The SEMA Show Porsche Friendly?

The SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada has a reputation (rightly earned or not) for being a bit long on the flash and a little light on anything of real substance for the automotive aftermarket. Each year, the Specialty Equipment Manufacturer's Association holds this gigantic convention of all-things-automotive—and it really is a sight to see.  We go each year to meet our customers, vendors and find new connections that will help us restore old Porsches.

Each year, there is a discussion of what "The Car" is at SEMA, as hot new offerings make their way into vendors' booths.  This year, the new 2015 Mustang was a clear favorite, but we also saw quite a few vintage Porsches on display. It seems like we can't see something about old Porsches in the mainstream without some mention of Magnus Wallker and his creations—which were on display in several spots through the halls, including in the Mobil 1 booth.

While we were mostly focused on meetings, we couldn't help but shoot a few images of the Porsches we saw around the show.  The answer is—yes, the SEMA Show is Porsche friendly, but don't expect many concours-correct cars on display, it's just not that kind of show.

There was this very pretty 356 in the PPG booth.  We recognized quite a few of our parts on this beauty.

It was actually hard to photograph this car as there were so many people swarmed around it.

Here's a trend for you—another 911 in an oil booth.  That makes sense though, as air-cooled Porsches are actually better considered as oil cooled.
