Drive Your Porsche, Win a T-Shirt

The 356 Registry holds an annual "Drive Your 356 Day" in September. This year it's on the 20th—but we'll go out on a limb and say it's a good day to drive any Porsche!
If you're a Registry member out and about in your 356, don't forget to snap a picture! The 356 Registry is accepting one image and caption by email per member until September 28th. You can submit the picture to the Registry here
We like this idea so much that we're going to expand it somewhat. If you've got your Porsche (any model) out that weekend, send a picture, caption and your postal address to us here at Stoddard. We'll pick the top five images and post them online—and we'll send the winners a free Stoddard Authentic Parts T-shirt.

Cab Deck. What is it?

Sometimes we get some really intersting stuff in our orders from Porsche that aren't so common. This is a rear deck repair panel for Cabriolet and Karmann Hardtop 356s. It replaces the section right above the engine lid. The lime green primer indicates that this is a fairly old piece of sheetmetal, so it must have been hanging around in Germany since at least the 1980s.  We've got one in stock—who wants it?

911 and 912 Rocker Panel Support Bracket

When you cut off a pair of rusty rocker panels on your 911 or 912, you will typically also hack off the little tab that helps secure them at the front near the base of the hinge panel.
These little pieces look simple, but the complex stamping dies we use here in Ohio takes a total of six different tools and 'hits' on the laser-cut blank. The result is a very crisp piece with bends that exactly duplicate the original part—with plenty of material to weld your new rocker to.

Old Timers at the Nurburgring

Sports Car Digest never fails to come up with some great images and articles on some of our favorite vintage races and classic car events around the globe. We particularly enjoyed their coverage of this year's Old Timer Gran Prix at the Nurburgring. Cool track, cooler cars and some top notch pictures.

Warehouse Artifact: More 356 Sheetmetal

You can tell by the darker green primer on this 356 quarter panel for 1960-1961 T5 coupes that this piece has been hanging around for nearly 40 years. It's a rare opportunity and we've only got the one right side in stock.  You get about four decades worth of shelf dust and grime at no additional charge.

For Sale: Restorable Stone Grey

We found a pretty original looking 356C on the 356 Registry's classified page that looks like a great candidate for a restoration—or frankly, not even too bad to use as a daily driver.  The C, with its more modern disc brakes, isn't a bad choice for a shorter commute.  We love the color too.

Parcel Trays

If the rear window seal fails on your 911 or 912, there's a set of particularly nasty problems that arise. Water will get in under the seal and collect in the horsehair insulation pad on the parcel tray. This trapped moisture will invariably lead to rust—you can typically see it start poking through when you look above the insulation damper in the engine compartment. The parcel trays are fairly straightforward to replace, albeit not easy with all of those little spot welds that need to be drilled out

Rear Window Corners

If the rust in your parcel tray gets really bad, you might also have issues at the bottom corners of the rear window.  Moisture also gets trapped down there and can quickly lead to rust that you can actually see from the outside of the car.  We've got window corner repair sections that match the contours of your the rear of your 911 or 912 perfectly.

Door Skins from Porsche

The door of a 911 is actually one of the simpler parts of the exterior sheetmetal. For the most part, there's just one simple curve at the top as it meets the side windows.  That said, because it's almost perfectly flat, it shows dents, waves and rust damage very easily.  A lot of body shops simply prefer to replace the outer skin with fresh metal from Porsche.  These are E-coated and ready to be crimped and spot welded to your existing inner door structure.

914-552-031-12-SIC Dashboard Pad For 914

New 914 Dashboards!

We pay a lot of attention to the 356s, 911s and 912s around here, but the 914 has its share of enthusiasts and they're committing serious money to restoring these wee-beasties correctly. Until now, those restorations have been hampered by a lack of new dashboards to replace the cracked originals.
We now have a limited supply of new 914 dashboards that are excellent—down to the correct graining on the outer surface. Whether your 914 is a show queen or a nice driver, our dash is a must—and since they're made here in the US, the price is quite reasonable.
