For 356A T-1 thru 356C & 912 -- This shaft drives the distributor. It goes in the third engine case piece and the gear is driven by the brass gear on the crankshaft.
When installing, don't forget to put the thrust shim (NLA-09-102) in first and then the spring (539-09-103) on top.
