This is a sleeve which goes over the tube portion of the oil hose. When the nut is tightened, it compresses and forms a seal. If you remove the hose and want to reuse it, you should replace this sleeve to prevent a leak.

Note: This sleeve and companion nut are included with the oil hoses.

You will need three pieces for most engines.
