For most original 356 distributors, this is the correct condenser. Bosch numbers are 1 237 330 067 or 02 006. Most 356 experts suggest changing the condenser along with points, cap, and rotor.
A bad condenser will cause erratic running and misfires, ending in the engine stopped all together. A test of condenser can be made with a capacitance tester. Value should be 0.25 to 0.32 microfarads.
