Windshield Installation Complete

We had a new windshield installed in our Sepia 911 project over the weekend.  We decided to go with the original manufacturer-Sekurit, with the same light-green tint that matches the rest of our windows and our factory COA documentation.

The seal is first installed on the windshield off the car.  The aluminum trim is very fragile and easily damaged—we replaced ours with new factory pieces.   The trim has to be pressed into the seal on the glass before the window goes in the car.  It is impossible to do otherwise.  A nylon cord is fed into the molded cavity that matches the flange on the bodywork.

Once the windshield, seal and trim assembly are placed in the window opening, the window is pressed in while nylon cord is pulled away—flipping the inner lip of the seal into position and thus locking the window in place.

The final installation looks great—there's nothing like the combination of fresh glass, seals and trim to make a 911 sparkle.

We took a moment to put this original-style quarter window sticker on.  We got this from the folks at the Early 911S Registry.

With the windshield installed, it was now time to put in our freshly recovered seats.  What a sea of 1970s glorious brown!
