Waiting is the Hardest Part

We have the majority of our 1973 911 back together and it runs just fine—we drove it out of our garage last weekend and turned it around before putting it back in.  Our cold Ohio winters and a lack of windshield kept us from driving further.

Right now, we're waiting for a few things to finish up the restoration.  Our original dashpad was cracked and we're replacing it with a brand new one that is coming out of Europe.

Once that dashboard is installed, we can get our new windshield put in. The dashpad is secured with screws along the front edge, which makes it impossible to fit with the windshield in place.

We've started putting together nice details, like a new fiberboard fuse cover for the front trunk area.  Our original was eaten by the car's rodent guests—but replacements are easy to get.

Next up, we're also getting new, correct leatherette seat covers for the old girl.  The original interior code was #21, which is a mocha brown.  The new seat covers are being made now and we hope to have them ready soon.  Even in the parts business, we sometimes have to wait for parts availability to finish our projects.

The original pedal board was also hopelessly warped and the fittings were rusted like the rest of the pedal area.  We're working on sourcing these bits or fabricating new pieces.
