Holiday Wrenching

It seems like we get the most work done on this project when we have time off from real work.  We took advantage of some unseasonably warm weather here in Ohio to put more parts on our newly painted 911.

The exterior side windows are now in and we're working on assembling the doors.

The interior needs some work with new seat covers and a dashpad, but we're happy with the progress so far.

We haven't done any engine work since our initial reanimation, but it's nice to see the 50,000 mile original piece framed with fresh paint and decals.  We started it up for the first time in four months—first crank and no smoke.  How rare is that?

The refinished wheels and new lugnuts look great in the sunlight.

After we were done oogling the car in the light of day, we rolled it back in our shop and installed the fuel filler tube.  We protected the surrounding paint with several layers of tape in case we slipped during installation. Of course, new rubber parts are being used throughout this restoration, including the filler neck.
