Making It Shine and Fit

Now that our 911 is all one color, our next task is to color sand and buff the paint and finally start putting panels back on the car.  We sanded the car with 2000, 2500 and 3000 grit sandpaper before polishing with several levels of compounds.

We are just about ready to bring the car home and want to publicly thank Greg Panik for the use of his paint booth.  Our current location doesn't have a dedicated booth and we really appreciate Greg's generosity in this regard.  Thanks Greg!

Final inspection shows a great finish with just a hint of orange peel—just like the factory.

Our next step is to bolt the hood and fenders on.  We used several people on the hood to insure no damage to our fresh paint.

The deck lid was a little easier—requiring just two sets of hands.

And finally, a snappy new paint plate from Porsche Classic—stamped with the correct 415 paint code.
